Mendelssohn & Schumann : Violin Concertos

Renaud Capuçon, Daniel Harding, Mahler Chamber Orchestra - 2004

A new disc from the brilliant young French violinist Renaud Capuçon brings together two strongly contrasted works: Mendelssohn’s luminous E minor concerto, one of the best-loved works in the repertoire, and Schumann’s more introverted and soul-searching work, once considered problematic but here revealed as a work of great charm and power. The youthful members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra are conducted by their artistic director Daniel Harding, Renaud’s partner in his award-winning debut disc, Le Bœuf sur le Toit.
